Kazakhstan Patent Law makes provision for obtaining a Design Patent.

Kazakhstan Patent Law makes provision for filing one Application for several Designs in case if they meet the requirement of unity i.e. are designed with the same concept art.

According to the Kazakhstan Patent Law a Design application is subject of the formal examination and examination in substance. A Design Patent shall be granted legal protection if it is new, original.
The substantive examination is carried out upon the request of the Applicant filed after the formal examination is carried out.

A Design Patent granted on the basis of the Design Application filed before January 12, 2012 is valid within 10 years. A Design Patent of 10 years validity may be extended for further 5 years.

A Design Patent granted on the basis of the Design Application filed after January 12, 2012 is valid within 15 years. A Design Patent of 15 years validity may be extended for further 5 years.

As a rule a Patent is granted within 1,5 – 2 years counting from filing the substantive examination request.
The annuities are to be paid for every next year on or before the annuity date.
